PSEKA Mourns the Passing of Former President of the Republic of Cyprus George Vassiliou

A brilliant and successful businessman who chose to sacrifice for his country and run as an independent candidate and became President 1988 – 1993.

  

President Vassiliou believed that a successful economy equals a successful foreign policy.  His Presidency was crowned by many achievements but one can argue that his economic reforms were visionary and laid the groundwork for entry into the European Union.  

 

His unparalleled efforts to alleviate the Turkish occupation and his vision for a new economy provided strength and inspiration for the people of Cyprus.

  

Our deepest condolences to his wife, Androulla, his children and the people of Cyprus.
