Senator Rick Scott of Florida condemns Turkey’s “thuggish behavior.”  – Press Release

Press Release

Recent remarks of Florida’s Republican US Senator Rick Scott could send a message across America regarding the growing “no-nonsense” attitude of the American people toward Turkey’s, as Senator Scott described it, ‘thuggish’ conduct toward Greece and Cyprus,” proclaimed Philip Christopher, president of PSEKA, International Coordinating Committee Justice for Cyprus.  “Scott, a top Trump supporter, described Greece and Cyprus as countries “bolstering our own defenses and ensuring that the free world never bows to the tyranny of (Russia’s) Putin and (Turkey’s) Erdogan.”  Chirstopher pointed out that the Senator’s comments followed recent remarks of former Florida US Senator and current Secretary of State Marco Rubio.  He too praised Greece and Cyprus regarding their western world gift to humankind.

Andy Manatos, president of the Coordinating Effort of Hellenes said, “the story of Turkey’s anti-American role in the death of a Florida soldier, Lance Corporal Billy San Petro, and Cyprus’ effort to save his life may have contributed to Senator Scott’s understanding of Turkey.  Years ago, as Turkey was taking tens of millions of American foreign aid dollars, numerous US soldiers were killed and wounded in Beirut, Lebanon by backdoor Turkish- funded Hezbollah.  Turkey refused to allow our Hezbollah-wounded soldiers to be treated at our own American base in Incirlik, Turkey.  Cyprus immediately came to America’s assistance saving the lives of many of our wounded soldiers.  However, Turkey’s refusal to let us use our own base in Turkey delayed the medical treatment of Florida’s Lance Corporal San Petro and his life could not be saved.”

In the coming mid-term election” it would behoove all 435 candidates running for a seat in the House of Representatives and the 35 candidates running for a seat in the US Senate to be sensitive to America’s new no-nonsense intolerance of “thuggish” Turkey.
