Türkiye National Day – “Our shared values and mutual interests”
The attached statement by the Secretary of State congratulating the Türkiye people on the 101st anniversary of the Republic, refers “to our shared values and mutual interests.”
I assume the shared values includes, but not limited to:
- 1974 illegal invasion and continued occupation of our strong ally, the Republic of Cyprus.
- Support of terrorist groups, Hamas, Isis and Hezbollah.
- Partnership with Russia and Iran.
- No sanctions on Russia and the purchase of the S400 defense system.
- Bombing of the Kurds in Syria.
- Religious freedom and conversion of Saint Sophia Cathedral to a mosque.
- Refusal to allow our troops to cross during Desert Storm.
- Restricting the use of our American base in Türkiye.
- Violations of the Exclusive Economic Zones of Greece and Cyprus.
- Interfering in the war between Armenia and Azerbajian.
- Interfering in our war against Isis.
- Interfering in our efforts to stabilize Libya.
- Imprisonment of Journalists and the restriction of Freedom of Speech.
- Veto the entry of Sweden and Finland into NATO.
- Blackmailing Europe with illegal migration.
The list of shared values with Türkiye is extensive and I guess American values are no longer meaningful to our State Department.
