Press Release – Eligibility of the Republic of Cyprus to receive Defense articles and Defense services
On January 15, 2025, President Biden finally issued the Presidential Determination of Eligibility for the Republic of Cyprus to receive defense equipment, supplies and services through the Foreign Military Sales Act of 1961.
PSEKA applauds this decision and expresses grateful appreciation to all Greek American organizations, Greek American members of Congress and the Hellenic caucus for their efforts and support for the past four years.
It is our hope that this historic decision will become the cornerstone for the foreign policy under President Donald J. Trump and the beginning of efforts to end the illegal 50 year occupation of 37% of Cyprus by Turkey.
The Republic of Cyprus, a member of the European Union and a strong strategic partner of the United States, stands ready to support and implement the new foreign policy of the Trump Administration in the turbulent Middle East region.
